Asian Bedroom Design Part of interior design is looking ahead to the future. You might just start a room remodel and find that all of your decorating ideas are already out-of-date before the room is even completed. That’s why it’s important to look ahead at furniture trends, especially when redecorating or remodeling an entire room. Of course, always be sure to pair your furniture trends with timeless pieces. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself redecorating sooner than you had intended.

Contemporary but Modern
One design trend that has been reemerging in the past few years is the look of tufted furniture. Tufted headboards, tufted sofas and tufted armchairs have all made an appearance and will continue to make an appearance for the next few years in interior design magazines, stores, business, websites, features and shows everywhere.

Recently, the reemergence of designs and decorating ideas that are specific to the mid-century modern look have also appeared. Choose tufted sofas that feature these clean lines, as they will blend the best within contemporary or modern interior design styles. Furthermore, clean lines will allow you to use these sofas or chairs for years without having them ever feel out-dated or out-of-place. The tuft is trendy, the lines are classic. This helps make the tufted mid-century pieces somewhat timeless, which is ideal for living room designs or bedroom designs.

Reclaimed Materials
Another popular furniture trend for 2012 will be the continued use of reclaimed materials: metals, glass and wood. Look for pieces made from reclaimed beams, barn wood and even old flooring. Reclaimed materials are versatile because you can make nearly any piece of furniture from them: tables, chairs, headboards, desks, console tables, media stands and so forth.

Glass recycled pieces are also relatively easy to come by and still relatively inexpensive. In interior design, saving money is always a plus and it will allow you to save up for more expensive pieces, like that reclaimed barn wood console table you’ve been eyeing.

Oriental and Other Global Influences

In furniture, you may just see some more oriental or global influences. The lines may be reminiscent of Oriental architecture, such as the Japanese temples. It is not unusual for interior design elements to take their cue from architecture, especially influential architecture.

Bathroom Tiling

One of the most difficult decisions that face you when you are remodeling your bathroom is the design of the ceramic tiles. Not only do you need to decide on the color and patterns on the tiles but you also have to consider how much of your bathroom you’re going to cover with ceramic. There are so many different variations of all this that it can get pretty overwhelming. I was recently faced with this problem with my own small bathroom remodel and I’m going to tell you exactly how I solved it.
Bathroom Tiling

Bathroom ceramic tile coverage
Ceramic tiles vary considerably in price and it’s easy to limit the coverage in your bathroom if you think that it’s going to be too expensive. I shopped around for tiles a lot and found a very reasonably priced line of ceramic tiles that were very similar to a lot of very expensive ceramic tiles that I’d seen. It definitely pays to spend time looking for the right tiles at the right price.
Bathroom Tiling

Because the ceramic tiles that I’d found were a good price I was able to afford to tile all the walls of my small bathroom from floor to ceiling which is what I’d set my heart on. I saved a little by not tiling the wall behind the bathtub that wasn’t going to be seen. I’d looked at a lot of bathrooms by then and I knew that bathrooms that are tiled 100% look much nicer than those that aren’t.
Bathroom Tiling
Ceramic tile design for small bathrooms
I have a small bathroom and not only is there a lack of space but little bathrooms can also feel small and cramped if you get the design wrong. The trick is to give your bathroom a light airy feeling. Plenty of light helps and so does a mirror or two on the walls. Choosing a light colored ceramic tile was the key to opening up my small bathroom because it reflects the available light and gives the impression that the room is larger than it really is.

Bathroom Tiling

Mosaic bathroom tile design
My first ceramic bathroom tile design idea was to use a bright white smooth tile throughout. This would have lightened up the room but I had the feeling that this would be overdoing it a bit so I looked at ways that I could break it up a little while keeping the same light and airy feel to the bathroom.

I eventually found a mosaic tile design that came in several pastel colors. The tiles were normal size so they were just as easy to fix to the wall but the surface of the tiles look like small rectangles raised a little from the surface to give a mosaic look.
Bathroom Tiling

I chose 2 colors, white and a light sky blue pattern and used about one third blue and two thirds white. The blue tiles were set at the lower part of the walls and look a little like the sea. This was a very simple but effective design.

Bathroom shower tile design
You don’t have to stick with the same arrangement of ceramic tiles in the shower but it’s good to use the same colors and stick to the same theme. I used the blue tiles to form a triangle with the peak in the corner of my shower. This has the effect of drawing you into the shower and making it look more inviting.

I hope that you enjoyed this article and maybe I’ve given you a few ideas for your bathroom tile design and remodel.

The Difference between Interior Design and Interior Decorating

Majority of us get confused when it comes to understanding What Is The Difference Between Interior Design And Interior Decorating ?. The two terms are usually confused with each other and more often, treated as one. However, the fact is that these two terms refer to two different professions that share very little in common!

The primary differences between interior design and interior decorating relate to the difference in the qualifications, experience, and functions of the professionals in these two fields. While interior design involves working with architecture, interior decoration relates only to the look or the appearance of the building or the landscape.
interior decorating picture
Interior decoration is used to change the aesthetics of a room, house, office, or any other space. It involves using different decorative elements and accessories to embellish the walls and floorings, and arranging the available furniture in the right manner. However, any standing structure cannot be changed or removed while decorating.

Interior design, on the other hand, lays emphasis on the architecture of the area and can change the standing structures of the place to alter the aesthetic look. Besides architecture, interior designing also involves finding the right arrangement for accessories, exterior elements, light fixtures, furniture, etc.

Interior decorations have nothing to do with the exteriors, while interior design incorporates both, the interiors as well as the exteriors of the building.

Another point of difference is that while interior decorators are experienced to work on all areas inside the building, interior designers are specialized in just one specific area.
Last, but not the least, while an interior designer is required to go through a four year bachelor program, an interior decorator can start to work after completing a two-year Associates degree from a community college. [via]
